What's In A Name?

Well here is my answer to that. Because his name was
Fuzzy Wuzzy, does not imply that he himself is fuzzy. It did not say "there was a bear that was a fuzzy wuzzy", but that there was a bear NAMED Fuzzy Wuzzy. The words themselves may be a description, but as a name, it is merely a name. My primary example is the actor Tiny Lister. Although his name may suggest that he is small, he is actually quite a large man.

This can also be applied to the "Fine Car/Ugly Girl" syndrome. And I'm sure you've heard it many-a-time before. The "Porsha (Porsche)" that looks like an 1976 Ford Truck. Or the "Mercedes" that looks like she should be playing center linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The "Alexis/ (Lexus)" that should have been named "The Old Brown Buick in the backyard that no one drives cause Grandpa hasn't put wheels on it yet".
Hey, it happens. I'm not the judge, just the jury.

So my question to you is..."what's in a name?"

"That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?"

But I'm sure if we called doo doo a rose, there would be no sweetness about it. People volunteer to smell roses, not because they are called roses, but because of what they are. If poo-juice was named "rose" I'm sure people wouldn't volunteer to smell that.

So I guess what I am saying is overcome whatever name you are, by becoming a person defined by self. Loser, Underachiever, Promiscuous, Show-Off, although describing they are merely a name. And if you choose to live be that name or any other name, you are not defining yourself, you are defining what other people think of you.

So do better and define who you are, and don't let what you are called define who you are.

Hey E! I really appreciate this piece. Let us be reminded of our deeper worth and substance and not be lead by mere labels! Well done. Here is a quote that I thought would be a nice compliment to all that you've said... "Reputation is what the world thinks you are; character is what you really are."--Anonymous

You can get so deep sometimes even when you aren't really trying to be. I know that someone will read this and reflect on themselves and really understand the meaning behind the blog. It makes so much sense in its own way. GREAT JOB P.B.
